UCLA Beach Volleyball Sweeps Washington to Advance in Pac-12 Tourney
The Bruins will face the Arizona Wildcats this morning after they swept the Huskies, 3-0, yesterday.
The UCLA beach volleyball team swept the Washington Huskies, 3-0, yesterday to open the Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Tournament and, as a result, the Bruins will face the Arizona Wildcats at 11:30 am this morning. Assuming UCLA beats the Wildcats, the Bruins will advance to tomorrow’s action. Should they lose to Arizona, UCLA will fall into the loser’s bracket and play again at 3 pm today.
Last Time Out
UCLA opened the Pac-12 Tournament with a quick 3-0 sweep of the Washington Huskies. The dual on Court Four was the first to finish when Megan Muret and Jacqueline Quade swept Ashley Shook and Hannah Yerex, 21-17, 21-14. Devon Newberry and Lea Monkhouse finished their dual second, sweeping Avie Niece and Natalie Robinson, 21-15, 21-10. That left the Bruins needing just one more dual win to take the match and they got it on Court One where Savvy Simo and Lexy Denaburg easily defeated Shayne McPherson and Chloe Loreen, 21-15, 21-15.
While Courts Three and Five did not finish, both of the Bruins’ pairs were up 1-0 and ahead in the second set when the match was stopped.
The Wildcats dispatched the Arizona State Sun Devils yesterday, 3-0, to set up today’s match with the Bruins. Arizona has now won six matches in a row. In fact, the Wildcats haven’t lost since the Bruins swept them back on April 11.
That doesn’t mean that today’s match will have a different result than the one from a few weeks ago. Look for another Bruin sweep.
