A perfect storm of UCLA's pitching, fielding, and hitting mistakes combined to sink the Bruins versus Cal Poly last night in a game UCLA probably should have won.
A fielding error crushing the Bruins again. B1. Already 5-0 Poly. Four runs unearned.
Schwartz could have ended the inning with UCLA down 1-0. Instead he booted it and the Mustangs then stroked back to back 2 RBI hits...
Ouch. Errors will do you in every time.
Bruins have, incredibly, already flipped the script!
And just like that, it’s 5-4. Cardenas with a three run bomb after two UCLA singles and a Poly error.
So much for the low scoring pitchers duel I predicted...
Side retired. B2. 5-4 ballgame.
T3. JT Schwartz lead off single chases Weston.
Mikey Perez with a three run jack! Bruins lead 7-5!
Poly SS blows a tailor-made double play. Karma for last night? UCLA still in business in T3.
Kevin Kendall with a two RBI single after a UCLA sacrifice. 9-5 Bruins. One out.
Oh how the tables have turned.
Bruins escape. Crazy game. 13-12. Look at that line score:
UCLA 13 15 1
CPoly 12 17 3
13-12? LOL.
It was a late night out here on the east coast. The game that would never end . . .
