The Bruins face the Black Knights at noon PT today for the right to try to win two games tomorrow and one game on Monday in order to advance to the Super Regional round.
Army leads off with a swinging bunt single on the carpet. I hate turf baseball fields. Would have likely rolled foul off the elevation change from grass to dirt. Instead it just stopped.
After a balk moves McLean to third and Schwartz walks, Cuellar pops up his safety squeeze attempt to the pitcher. Two down. Another pitching change for Army with runners at the corners. Still 6-2.
I haven't had a change to watch many, but it's great that these are on ESPN (same with softball) because I haven't had access to the Pac-12 Network for a while, but I do have Hulu/ESPN+.
T6. Perez walks, fielders choice moves him to second, wild pitch moves him to third, and safety squeeze by Vaughns scores him! 10-6 UCLA. Small ball baby!
McLain flies out, leaving the bases loaded. Still 10-6. Bruins have stranded 11 runners in six innings. Hope it doesn’t come back to bite them in the ass.
Bartoli starts for Army. Mullen for the Bruins. UCLA is the “road” team.
T1. Bruins already up 2-0. Walk, single, single, and an outfield misplay (error) on the second single by McLean. No outs.
Single scores another run. 3-0 Bruins.
Cuellar double. Runners on second and third.
Fly ball to right and Schwartz thrown out at the plate. Double play.
Wild pitch moves Cuellar to third.
Side retired.
Two out double by Army wiped out because the runner did not touch first base. Bruins appealed and runner called out.
No replay review by Army....
T2 and UCLA puts two runners on base but cannot score. On to B2.
Two run home run by Army. 3-2.
Side retired. 3-2 Bruins through two.
UCLA with runners at the corners with no outs.
Perez strikes out swinging on a pitch at neck level. Sigh...
Safety squeeze by Karros scores a run. 4-2 Bruins.
Side retired. On to B3.
Army leads off with a swinging bunt single on the carpet. I hate turf baseball fields. Would have likely rolled foul off the elevation change from grass to dirt. Instead it just stopped.
Karma. Inning ending double play. 4-6-3. Nice play by Perez to stab the hard hit ball.
T4. Cardenas single, Kendall walk, and Silva sac bunt brings McLean to the plate with runners on second and third.
McLean doubles down the left field line! 6-2 Bruins.
Army pitching change.
After a balk moves McLean to third and Schwartz walks, Cuellar pops up his safety squeeze attempt to the pitcher. Two down. Another pitching change for Army with runners at the corners. Still 6-2.
Perez HBP. Bases loaded.
Karros strikes out to end the threat. UCLA has left seven on base in four innings...
B4. Can of corn fly ball gets caught in the wind in left center near the track and ends up being a triple as Vaughns cannot get a glove on it.
Sac fly scores a run. 6-3 Bruins.
Two out single and Savage hooks Mullen. This wasn’t Sean’s best outing. Plus they might be able to use him later in this regional.
Michael Townsend to the hill.
Strike out swinging to end B4.
T5. Vaughns walks. Cardenas lays down a bunt single and Vaughns goes all the way to third on the overthrow.
Kendall rips a double to right, scoring Vaughns. No outs with runners on second and third. 7-2 Bruins.
Sorry, 7-3.
Silva pops out and McLean walks, loading the bases with one out. With Schwartz looming, Army will make a pitching change to bring in a lefty.
K.
Cuellar with a two run single! 9-3 UCLA!
UCLA tried a double steal, but the second baseman threw out McLain at the plate.
Sorry about all the spelling mistakes with Matt McLain. Gotta double check the autocorrect.
B5. With two outs, Townsend gives up back-to-back singles. With a lefty coming up, Savage goes to LHP Daniel Colwell.
Colwell issues a walk to load the sacks.
Single scores two. 9-5.
Need to get that third out....
Couldn’t do it last night either...
Single scores another run. 9-6.
This is incredibly frustrating...
Looks like a pitching change for UCLA with two on and two outs in the bottom of the 5th. Colwell's coming on for Townsend.
Whew, fly out with Mora pitching and the inning is over!
Something tells me that we need a few more runs...
I haven't had a change to watch many, but it's great that these are on ESPN (same with softball) because I haven't had access to the Pac-12 Network for a while, but I do have Hulu/ESPN+.
*chance
UCLA actually streamed a lot of games this season, finally. Watched a lot that way.
Oh, didn't know that.
T6. Perez walks, fielders choice moves him to second, wild pitch moves him to third, and safety squeeze by Vaughns scores him! 10-6 UCLA. Small ball baby!
Replay overturns “out” call at first. Vaughns beat out the bunt.
Now bases loaded for UCLA on back-to-back HBPs.
Caulfield pinch hits for Silva.
Strikes out looking on three pitches. Terrible at-bat.
McLain flies out, leaving the bases loaded. Still 10-6. Bruins have stranded 11 runners in six innings. Hope it doesn’t come back to bite them in the ass.
