UCLA Athletics Delays Deadline For Football, Basketball Season Tickets Again
After originally delaying the deadline to May 1, the UCLA Athletic Department has extended the deadline again.

Back in March, the UCLA Athletic Department extended the deadline for renewing season tickets until May 1.
Today, in an email to season ticket holders, the deadline has now been pushed back to July 1, 2020 and, in an indication that there may very well not be a football season at all this year, season ticket holders will not be charged for their tickets until August 1, 2020.
The deadline for renewing Wooden Athletic Fund memberships has also been extended to July 1, 2020.
Lastly, the email notes that tickets will be digital-only starting this season, which makes sense considering that a shortened window would make it difficult to print and mail tickets in time for the start of the football season, if there is one, not to mention the potential concerns related to paper tickets including theft and other issues.
Here is the complete text of the email:
We hope that you and your loved ones are staying strong during this difficult time.Â
Now more than ever, please know how much we appreciate your support of UCLA Athletics. On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches and staff, "thank you" for your generosity and for the many outpourings of support, both financial and emotional, that we have received over the past several weeks for our student-athletes. They have all been meaningful and impactful.
We understand that many have been impacted physically and financially as we continue to adapt together to the changing world around us.  In an effort to provide you and your family additional flexibility and security, we have made the following adjustments for the upcoming season and ask that you please read carefully:
We have extended the renewal deadline for Bruin football and men's basketball season tickets to July 1. We have also extended the deferred payment option for those who will, or already have, provided a credit card so that your account will not be charged until August 3. For those who have yet to renew, you may do so HERE.
The deadline to renew Wooden Athletic Fund contributions has also been extended to July 1. If you would like to make a gift or renew your pledge online, please click HERE.
For increased convenience and safety, we are providing digital-only tickets beginning with the 2020 season. In addition to eliminating the physical touching concerns that are prevalent at this time, digital ticketing will reduce frequent issues related to paper tickets, including theft, shipping delays, tickets lost in transit and the need for an early confirmation of a shipping address. Other advantages feature the ability for ticket purchasers to transfer tickets via mobile phone, while customers will still be able to post and sell tickets via UCLA's official ticket resale platform.Â
All 2019-20 Season Ticket Holders will be given the opportunity to select and improve their current seat locations through our online Select-A-Seat (SAS) events. Football SAS will begin the week of July 27, while Men's Basketball is scheduled for August 17 with more details to follow.Â
Should you need assistance or have questions with your season tickets, please contact our Sales & Service team at (310) 206-5991 or email us at tickets@athletics.ucla.edu. We are working remotely for the time being but will respond to you by the end of the day.
Thank you again for all that you have done and continue to do to support UCLA Athletics and our nearly 700 student-athletes.
We wish health and safety to you and your family, and look forward to seeing our Bruin Family at the Rose Bowl and Pauley Pavilion Presented by Wescom soon.
It’s been stated pretty clearly that there will not be any college football until there can be students on college campuses. So, this delay seemed to be inevitable and the deparment has done the right thing here by delaying the deadline again two weeks before the May 1 deadline and delaying billing until August 1 should ensure that there will be actual season before season ticket holders are billed for tickets.
I also suspect that this will not be the last time there will be a communication from the Athletic Department on this issue.
Go Bruins!!!
Thanks again for supporting The Mighty Bruin. Your paid subscriptions make this site possible. Questions, comments, story ideas, angry missives and more can be sent to joe@themightybruin.com, or to @JPiechowski on Twitter. (Unfortunately, the Twitter account for The Mighty Bruin remains in Twitter jail after I made the mistake of trying to set the TMB launch date as the account’s birthday. We hope to have this resolved soon.)
I don't care one way or the other.
Thanks for the info.
