Spaulding Report: UCLA Football Penn State Week Media Interviews
As you wait for today's game to kickoff, we've gathered all of this week's UCLA Football interviews for you in one place.

As usual, we’ll get right to this week’s interviews and see what’s been getting said at this week’s UCLA football press conferences. I’m just going to share this week’s videos here all in the same place to make it easy for you to watch them if you haven’t already. The videos in this article are courtesy of UCLA Athletics on YouTube, unless no tted otherwise.
As is the custom, we’ll start off with interim head coach Tim Skipper. Ben Bolch of the LA Times asked Skipper about the offense’s slow start. Skipper responded:
“I wouldn’t just single out the offense. I think our team came out slow…just the first half how it was and, then once we finally woke up and started playing ball, it got a lot better. But I thought that was in all three phases. I wouldn’t just single out the offense on that thing.”
Next, Tracy McDannald from On3 asked about how Coach Skipper’s conversations with Tino Sunseri had been trying to mitigate the slow starts.
“My conversations have been very productive.”
Well, neither of Skipper’s comments seemed to age well considering the fact that the next day Tino Sunseri was out as the offensive coordinator.
On Wednesday, Skipper faced a lot of questions about Sunseri’s departure. All he would say was that it was a “mutual parting of ways,” which, frankly, doesn’t say much.
He did seem pretty excited about Jerry Neuheisel taking over duties as the play caller.
On the topic of Noel Mazzone, he refused to comment because things were still being worked out.
Here’s his full interview from Wednesday:
Moving to the players, Rico Flores and Hudson Habermehl met with the media on Tuesday.
Rico’s interview focused on his return from injury while Habermehl’s focused on how the offense can overcome their slow starts. One notable quote from Habermehl was this:
“Execution is the biggest thing.”
Well, yeah, it’s the biggest thing because the offense has had trouble doing it all season so far.
