Preseason polls had tons of SEC teams in the top 10 so then even when those teams lose it is still a “quality loss.” It is complete and utter b.s., has been going on in football for two decades. Now it is bleeding into other sports that the PAC 10/12 were traditionally good at but SECSPN has now helped SECSPN dominate, sports like softball and baseball and gymnastics. Regarding baseball, look at how many SECSPN teams are predicted to host in the regional round of the CWS tournament. A team that came in 10th in the SECSPN (Florida) could host over UCLA if baseball loses today vs. Nebraska (down 5-0 in Omaha with 20K red shirts rooting against us at present). This will look like a “bad loss” because Nebraska is not great but they certainly are formidable when they’re in front of the huge stadium with 20,000 fans and UCLA typically plays before less than 1,000. Rant over.
They were an out away from elimination but then in a demoralizing fashion for South Carolina UCLA took it. Today, it was an academic win. After yesterdays walk off HR it was over!
Baseball wilting in a seas of Husker red. 0-5 in the 7th. Why did we join this conference again? Seems a little unfair that the #8 seed gets a “home game” in a 25,000 seat stadium full of Nebraska fans. UCLA not doing itself any favors though. O’fer with RISP and the at-bats were poor.
You have to tip your hat to the Nebraska pitcher. He allowed six runs in four innings versus UCLA back in March in an 11-3 loss. Today he has three hit UCLA through 7 innings. Game of his career.
