I am glad that we are finally getting some football news on here. Bruinsnation and then TheMightyBruin was my go to place for that. For many months I have been searching to get that news. I have since turned to Youtube and podcasts for that.

Let's get this started...and thanks as always, Stephen! I suppose it was to tough to work up a Dad joke for Candy-O (my personal fave Cars track, ever!)

#1- DTR Passing - 15/25/2, Rushing - 5/35/1

#2 - McDonald Passing - 2/225

#3 - Charbonnet - 3/ 190 yds...going to be grossly hot so Chip must rotate his backs and limit attempts

Bonus: Between the heat, non-marquee opponent and 11:30a start...will be lucky to have 25,000 at the game....which might still be more than who will be able to watch on P-12 Network.

GO BRUINS!

A stinkburger of a season opening match-up in 104 degree weather. Don't have the heart to make my wife sit through it! 25,000 might be generous.

Thank you, Stephen for featuring The Cars as our musical accompaniment for the first PGG of the season. My older brother was a huge fan, so I grew up with this band. His life was suddenly ended by pancreatic cancer at the age of 59. Every time I hear a Cars song it makes me smile so thanks for triggering happy memories of concerts and car rides with the radio way too loud!

So, my 2cents on the upcoming season…. It’s that time where there’s hope that last year’s problems have been fixed and fear that even deeper problems emerge. More than in years past, I really have no read on this team and with the super weak schedule I think it will take some time before we really know where the team is. Actually, I have this sense that Bruins Football is just in a holding pattern, not advancing, but not in a position to move on. I think that Jarmond would ditch Kelly if he could, but right now we’re just treading water until the bank account refills. I’d honestly like to see Kelly and the Bruins have a good year but I think we’ll have a good record that hides big problems.

So I think we’ll go 8-4, and like last year beat bad teams and lose to good teams. Chip gets another year but maybe his last. Just passing time. Offense should be decent. I thought the biggest issue would be replacing the production from Phillips and Dulcic, but having read the preview articles here, it’s definitely the O Line. In both cases though I think the concern comes back to the same problem, which is the terrible recruiting under Kelly. I know many people point to the transfer portal and say that recruiting isn’t as important as it used to be, but I don’t think our portal recruiting has been exceptional, and both high school talent and transfers are needed. This is my big worry - that the cupboard is so bare when Chip finally goes that his replacement has too big of a hole to fill.

And then there’s the Defense. Who really knows- it can’t be worse than last year right? It’s weird to think that with (not even a good) but just a competent Defense, the Bruins probably would have been 10-2 last year (beating Fresno and Oregon). But.even stranger is that Kelly couldn’t see this and clung to Azz until forced to let him go. I’m interested to see how the D has evolved, but am worried about another Kelly crony.

So, unless the Bruins are a dumpster fire, we’re probably off to at least a 4-0 start and the raised hopes that brings. Bruins fans are used to this by now right?

Bowling Green does return 19 starters - a bunch of whom have been in Loeffler's program since he tore it down and started rebuilding it with Freshmen when he was hired in 2019 - from a team that did upset an eventually 9-win Minnesota in the non-conference season last year before collapsing in the conference so this might be a bit more of a contested layup than we all would wish... but that said:

#1 DTR 15-23 & 2 TDs passing and 10-55 & 1 TD Rushing (since sacks count against rush yds)

#2 McDonald 275 yds, 2 TDs, and 1 big fat L

#3 Charbonnet - 160 yds while sitting out most of the 4th quarter & 1 TD

Bonus: Attendance - 33,000 including us

Go Bruins!
