Agree Dimitri that an upward trend in the development of Book could be the X-factor moving forward and could raise the ceiling of this team significantly. I would much rather see him raise the number of shots blocked or altered in the paint and see a rise in his aggression in positioning himself to get more offensive and defensive rebounds, because although he can hit the 3, he is not Bilo and I would hate to have his production on the floor to be based on the reliability of his 3-point shot. Having said that, however, maybe this move outside is a dress rehearsal for Michigan. If Book’s 3-point shooting can force a big man to vacate the paint to cover him, that would create opportunities for Trent, Dent, ED and Bilo to dive in and work some magic in the paint as well as from 3-point land.
During a post game interview, Cronin emphasized how often Booker has been open in the corner. He said too often that players would drive to the basket to force a contested shot. He said they need to kick the ball out to the open player. Looks like they are finally listening. Cronin said Booker doesn't even have to be a great 3-point shooter. 1 of 3 from 3 is just as good as 1 of 2 from the post.
As I have mentioned in previous posts, his type of injury is a 30 to 40 day recovery period, usually. He is at 30 days. He has been listed as questionable in injury reports since the Indiana game.....but I've heard Cronin mention in interviews that he has been engaged in "limited" practices (most likely meaning not full speed) . Again, as much as I want to see him back, I hope they err on the side of caution. A re-injury could end his season. Unless he's ready for a tune-up (because he will need a few to shake rust and to become mentally secure that his injury has healed), he should be kept out of the Washington game.
Bruin Report Online just put up an interview with Cronin where at the end (11:40 point or so) he stated that Skyy has been involved in drills and light practice since last Friday and they want him to "stack" practices without any residual pain before they will allow him to play............. So, let's hope Skyy will be able to do that this week and participate in the upcoming Michigan game. If Skyy plays Saturday and his hamstring is ok then there is nothing else to say and we can look forward. If he doesn't play, then I will have more about his injury because it seems there was some disconnect as to how serious his injury was at the beginning.....
Two turnovers for the game deserves a mention. Not by one guy, but the whole team.
Agreed. That was outstanding.
