I had to listen on satellite radio, my take is all of these teams are pretty good or they wouldn't be there.

Duke play LSU tough. Leading by 2 after 3 quarters.

Will be a close finish, but looking like Duke right now

Crap I may have jinxed it

Y'all really gotta stop letting the devil in.

It’s ok, I repented just in time 🤣

Duke hits a 3 to win at the buzzer. Duke has won 2 revenge games in a row. Now they are gunning for UCLA.

ESPN just posted that our game with Duke will start at noon, high noon.

Michigan in a battle with Louisville. Louisville was up big early but Michigan is turning it around. Not going to speculate on the outcome and jinx it. Interested in the game since Michigan has been used as measuring stick for comparing UCLA and UConn. I still think Dudley is the one freshman that Close should have worked harder to keep.

Pass the jinx zone, Michigan has it in the refrigerator.

Am I wrong in thinking/worrying that the "last ride" nature of such a senior laden and personally connected team is weighing on them - playing tighter than normal... I really respect that Close has created a safe atmosphere where a team leader like Lauren Betts can speak to the pressures and difficulty she's faced - I hope that space allows for them to relax and play with flow now that we're at the point where we're playing teams that can actually match up with our talent. Go Bruins!

Gen2Bruin1987's avatar

It might be having the opposite effect. Players are tight like they don't want to let down the team.

Yeah - I'm hopeful that they can play less tight but I agree that it being "the last ride" seems to be weighing on them... probably could have been more clear in my original comment :-)

Interesting theory by Geno Auriemma:

It would help explain all the missed layups and poor 3 point shooting. Coach Close has voiced her issues with the tournament. Will Geno's clout get him more attention? Unfortunately, any fixes couldn't happen until next year.

Dimitri Dorlis's avatar

It’d explain the three-point shooting but the layups were more a lack of focus than anything.

Geno said they were using new basketballs that were too bouncy. In addition, the surface of the ball can be a little different so might come off your hand strangely. I didn’t check all of yesterday’s stats but shooting appeared better. Maybe because it was the second day of use. When did the team meet with the media? And when was practice? Were they really early and late like UConn?
