I had to work late and only saw parts of the Rutgers game. UCLA has been flat after traveling to the Midwest this season. I suspect that the team will feel a lot better after a day to adjust to the travel, so hopefully we'll see a better UCLA team against Michigan State. I agree that Tyler Bilodeau did not look healthy, so hopefully he will feel better tomorrow as well. UCLA is playing a lot better (generally) now than it was when traveling to Michigan, so hopefully a neutral court and a more in tune UCLA team will make a big difference.
Quite an individual accomplishment for the $3M man. Looks like the Bruins are going to go as far as he can take them. Hope Sparty comes out rusty and overconfident and that HC Cronin doesn't assess any Flagrant-2 technical fouls on his own players again.
Might actually be interesting to see how teams perform during March Madness and compare their NIL spending. Will the Final Four teams be the ones who spent the most on their players?
UConn, Mich, Duke, etc have huge NIL so there will likely be a strong correlation... but coaching is also vital.
You can have plenty of talent and still lose... These huge NIL teams, tampering be damned, have talent and great coaches...
But honestly, why is cronin complaining about money? He paid Donnie $3 mil. And why is he degrading his players, yet again? Why does he diminish them?
Because that is who he is.
However, I do believe cronin is trying hard to 'soften' his public face after he got into hot water with the Jamerson incident...
So he throws out a compliment or two. He tries to answer presser Qs with a decent level of respect. But he can't help but show his true colors, over and over again.
Off topic, there's also Seth Davis... he was so rude to Donnie, and Donnie handled it with class.
Ms. Tamara, not sure why you're complaining to me about HC Cronin---I'm not in the group that's infected with Cronin's disease, and I would expect anti-Cronin fever to flare up after a loss... :-)
Besides, regardless of whether you, me, or anyone else likes him or not, UCLA is stuck with this HC until 2030, unless he is bought out before then. I'm pretty sure the scolding that he received from the UCLA administration has affected how he's been responding to the press lately. But deep down inside, I don't think he really gives a rat's a** about what anyone thinks of his coaching style or ability (even more so, after securing his contract extension!). I haven't seen any postgame interviews with Andy Katz or Seth Davis, either, but if they were negative, then I think the Bruins have opportunities tonight and in the NCAA tournament to make them look dumb. No doubt tonight's game will either elicit more anti-Cronin responses after a loss (no surprise), or generate pleasant surprise if the Bruins pull off another Cronin and improve their seeding in the Big Dance.
Yes, for me, I must accept that we are stuck with cronin, take my seat in the back row and realize my observations mean nothing to the powers that be, namely jelly.
But I will be there tonight, in the game thread, wearing my blue and gold heart and cheering for our team regardless of the coach.
And if we win, then I will be over the moon happy for our team...
I'll be at work tonight - again - and miss the game - again - so I'll expect you and all the rest of our Bruin fans to pick me up and cheer on our kids! Go Bruins!
Skyy still doesn't look confident out there.....In addition to Bilo, he should be the one high volume shooter we utilize....He seems hesitant.....Maybe he still isn't fully confident in his hamstring (and thus has lost the feel for his shot mechanics)......because there were times last night (and over the past few games), IMHO, where he caught the ball and was open for a "catch and shoot" 3-pointer and he hesitated just for that split second to allow the defender to get to him and opted to dribble and pass......or maybe I'm just seeing things......
Cronin mentioned in the postgame presser that Clark's base is narrower on his shot since returning from the injury, maybe as he's trying to protect his leg from another injury. He's still had some good games (like against Minnesota and Michigan State), but he's taken more of a backseat offensively.
That makes some sense......anything that changes your mechanics, even slightly, can effect your shot, mentally more than physically, and thus your confidence, because you're thinking instead of shooting.....We need Skyy to be a confident, volume shooter........I am also concerned about him in a back to back game like this (rest-wise) and if we win, how he will hold up on Saturday or Sunday.
But his D is still tough. If Donny, Trent, Tyler and Dailey are scoring then Skyy going under or getting over screens and staying in front of his man works for me.
True NVE and that makes me think his hamstring has to feel better just be cause he wouldn't be able to play tough D if it was tweaked in some way......He needs to crash for rebounds tonight also, like Donny and Trent did last night....

The irony of the $3M man...
BIG Ten just posted an Andy Katz interview with cronin after the game, and it was another classic...
What cronin said when talking about facing Michigan State...
It's my fault... You only have so much money (to spend on players)
What he REALLY said...
My players are not good enough.
My opinion of cronin remains.

He's clearly been back on his meds since the last Michigan State game.....
I am not sure whether to 🤣 or 😢 but astute observation P1

Any update on Skyy Clark? Looked more like he came down awkwardly on his ankle than cramping?
He came back into the game and played out the final stretch, so it appears that cramping was the culprit.
