How To Watch, Game Preview and Game Thread: #4 UCLA Bruins vs. Oregon Ducks
After the UCLA men's basketball team defeated Oregon yesterday, the Bruin women's basketball team looks to complete the weekend sweep when they open conference play against the Ducks.

The UCLA women’s basketball team will host the Oregon Ducks at Pauley Pavilion at noon today. While the Bruins have beaten the Ducks in five straight games, this matchup has been one of the best conference matchups UCLA has played dating back to the Pac-12. The last time the Bruins lost to Oregon was in the quarterfinals of the 2021-22 Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament.
While the Ducks remain undefeated this season, their schedule hasn’t been tough enough to help them crack into either Top 25 poll, though they did receive six votes in each poll last week.
On Wednesday, Oregon defeated in-state rival Oregon State at home, 96-73. The win was Oregon’s third where they scored at least 90 points. They have scored at least 80 in seven of their ten wins.
Meanwhile, UCLA has scored 80 or more in five of their eight wins. So, today’s game looks like it could be a high-scoring game.
Last Time Out
Last Sunday, the Bruins defeated the #14/11 Tennessee Lady Volunteers at Pauley, 99-77. Gabriela Jaquez scored a season-high 29 points for the Bruins while making a career-high five three-pointers to lead the Bruins past the Lady Vols. Meanwhile, Kiki Rice had her second double-double of the season, scoring 20 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Utah transfer Gianna Kneepkens added another 19 and Angela Dugalic was the final Bruin in double figures with 14. Charlisse Ledger-Walker had 11 assists as well. Lauren Betts finished with seven points.
Oregon’s Starting Five
Head coach Kelly Graves has started the same five players in each of the Ducks’ last eight games. That’s because senior guard Elisa Mevius went down to a season-ending knee injury against Montana. In her place, Graves has turned to junior Ari Long to replace her.
The loss of Mevius has certainly hurt the Ducks’ production. In two games this year, she averaged 12.5 ppg, but Long is only averaging 4.9 ppg. Long hasn’t really excelled in any other aspect of the game to make up for that drop in points from that spot.
Of the remaining Oregon starters, only two, guard Katie Fiso and forward Mia Jacobs, are averaging in double figures. Fiso leads the team with 15.6 ppg and Jacobs is second with 14.4 ppg. Fiso also leads the Ducks in assists with 79 while Jacobs is second in rebounding with an average of 5.3 rpg.
The other two starters will be junior forward Sarah Rambus and junior guard Sofia Bell. Rambus is averaging 8.6 ppg despite only averaging 16.2 minutes per game which is the lowest of the team’s starters. Bell is averaging 7.5 ppg and her 40.5% three-point percentage is the best on the team.

UCLA wins 80-59.
The history of Oregon women’s basketball began and ended with Sabrina Ionescu.
Kinda shocking Phil Knight hasn’t poured a ton of NIL money into women’s basketball just to try and win the school their first national championship. Seems like a better ROI than football.
