How To Watch, Game Preview and Game Thread: UCLA Bruins vs. Indiana Hoosiers
UCLA hosts the Hoosiers for the first time since 1960 and the first time at Pauley Pavilion.

This afternoon, the UCLA men’s basketball team will welcome the Indiana Hoosiers to Los Angeles for the first time in 66 years. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 pm PT and today’s game will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network (where available) and streamed on Peacock.
How long has it been since the Bruins hosted the Hoosiers? Long enough that Indiana is making its first visit to Pauley Pavilion today.
The Hoosiers are in their first season under Darian DeVries. It’s been a good season so far for Indiana. The Hoosiers are 14-7 this year under DeVries. DeVries came to Indiana after coaching at West Virginia where he coached for just one season. Before coaching the Mountaineers, DeVries spent the previous six seasons coaching at Drake. Before he became the head coach of the Bulldogs, he served as an assistant coach at Creighton for 18 years under both Dana Altman and Greg McDermott. Overall, DeVries has a 183-75 record as a head coach.
Indiana enters today’s game having won their last two games over Rutgers and Purdue, which ended a four-game losing streak for the Hoosiers. Indiana and UCLA seem to match up well, at least based on common opponents. Both teams beat Washington earlier in the season and both teams lost to Iowa as well. In the past two weeks, both teams have defeated Purdue, too.
Based on the Hoosier starting lineup against the Boilermakers on Tuesday, DeVries will probably start a lineup with three guards and two forwards. Let’s look at that lineup.
Indiana Hoosiers’ Starting Five
While it would be easy to expect redshirt senior Tucker DeVries to be the best player on the Hoosiers’ roster since he is the son of Indiana’s head coach, that honor goes to super senior guard Lamar Wilkerson. Wilkerson joined the Hoosiers this year after starting his collegiate career at Three Rivers College and playing the last three seasons at Sam Houston State. Overall, Wilkerson is averaging 19.4 ppg, but he has actually played better in Big Ten play. He’s averaging 21.9 ppg in conference games. He’s one of two Hoosiers with more than 100 three-point attempts and he’s shooting 39.7% from beyond the arc. As a result, he’s made more threes than anyone else on the team.
The second starting guard will probably be junior Nick Dorn. He has started the last two games in place of Tayton Conerway who is recovering from an ankle injury. While the transfer from Elon is only averaging 8.8 ppg overall, he’s made a splash since joining the starting lineup against Rutgers. In the two games he has started, he’s averaging 20.5 ppg. While he has only attempted 91 three-pointers, his 45.1% three-point percentage is the best on the team.
Redshirt senior Conor Enright will be the final starting guard. While he is averaging just 4.7 ppg, he does lead the Hoosiers with 90 assists.
Moving to the forwards, Tucker DeVries has followed his dad from Drake to West Virginia and, now, Indiana. DeVries’ average of 14.3 ppg makes him the only Indiana starter besides Wilkerson averaging in double figures over the course of the season. His 5.2 rpg makes him the team leader in rebounds. He’s also a three-point threat. Like Wilkerson, he’s attempt 174 threes, but because he’s made ten fewer, he is shooting 33.9% from long-range.
The other starting forward will likely be senior transfer Sam Alexis. He began his collegiate career at Chattanooga and joins Indiana this year after playing at Florida last season. He is averaging 7.1 ppg and he’s second on the team in rebounds with an average of 4.8 rpg. He is also the team leader in blocks with 23.
Indiana may be without guard Tayton Conerway this afternoon. If he is able to play, look for him to start in place of Dorn. Conerway is averaging 11.2 ppg and he is second on the team in assists with 82.
As far as reserves go, look for DeVries to probably use an eight-man rotation with Reed Bailey, Trent Sisley and Jasai Miles seeing significant time off the bench. Bailey is averaging 9.3 ppg and Sisley is averaging 5.5 ppg. While Miles is averaging just 1.4 ppg, he did score five points in 15 minutes against the Boilermakers.

Lol refs just screwed UCLA on that OOB.
Look at that, UCLA on the right side of a team refusing to foul up 3 for once.
