How To Watch, Game Preview and Game Thread: UCLA Bruins at Oregon Ducks
The Bruins begin the second half of the conference schedule tonight when they visit the Ducks.

With the UCLA women’s basketball game now over and another win in the books, Bruin fans can turn their focus to tonight’s game with the men’s basketball team. This evening, the Bruins will square off against the Oregon Ducks. Tip-off is set for 8 pm PT and the game will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
It’s been an uncharacteristic season for the Ducks as Dana Altman’s team comes into tonight’s game with just an 8-12 record overall and a 1-8 record in conference play. The Ducks’ only Big Ten win came on the road against Maryland. They enter tonight’s game on a six-game losing streak, and they have lost their last five games by at least ten points.
The injuries have piled up for Oregon this year. In fact, three of the five players who started when these teams met in December are out for tonight’s game.
Oregon Ducks’ Starting Five
So, which players who started the December matchup will be available? Only forwards Devon Pryor and Sean Stewart will be able to play tonight. Jackson Shelstad, Nate Bittle and Takai Simpson are all out for tonight’s game. Oregon will also be without Ege Demir and freshman Miles Johnson who hasn’t played this season.
As a result, forward Kwame Evans, Jr., who didn’t start the last game against UCLA, is the only player available for Oregon who is averaging in double figures. He’s scoring an average of 12.7 ppg and he leads the Ducks in rebounding with an average of 7.3 rpg.
The injuries have forced Stewart to step up. While Stewart scored just five points against UCLA last month, he scored 15 against Washington on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Pryor is one guy who continues to disappoint. He’s averaging just 3.1 ppg and scored just two against the Huskies.
Guard Wei Lin is likely to start at one of Altman’s three-guard lineup. The sophomore from China is averaging 6.8 ppg, and he scored nine against UW.
The final starter will probably be sophomore guard Jamari Phillips. Phillips scored seven in 27 minutes against Washington, which makes him the most likely choice to be tonight’s fifth starter. Even if he doesn’t start, expect him to see a lot of minutes based on the Washington game.
Ukranian forward Oleksandr Kobzystyi and senior forward Dezdrick Lindsay should also see a lot of playing time even though neither really scored much against the Huskies.
Analysis
Tonight’s game should be an easy win for the Bruins. Frankly, the Ducks are reeling, and it isn’t really the fault of Dana Altman. When you have three starters who are not able to play, it makes it really hard to win games.
Of course, now that I’ve written that, I fully expect this game to go down to the wire.
