NCAA Baseball Tournament: UCLA Bruins Earn Top Overall Seed
UCLA will host this weekend's Regionals and will face St. Mary's on Friday at Noon PT.

It’s a Memorial Day tradition. I’m not talking about your afternoon barbecue. I’m talking about the reveal of the 64-team field for the NCAA Baseball Tournament, and if you tuned in late because of the shift from ESPN2 to ESPN, you might have missed the big news: UCLA is the top overall seed for the tournament.
Now, that doesn’t mean the Bruins will have a cakewalk to Omaha. It really just means that UCLA has been rewarded for being the number one team in the country all season long.
It also means that the Bruins will host the Los Angeles Regional this coming weekend, along with a Super Regional next weekend if they are able to advance.
So, who will the Bruins be facing?
UCLA will take on St. Mary’s on Friday at 12 Noon PT. The game is currently scheduled to air on ESPNU. The Gaels earned their bid by winning the West Coast Conference tournament when they defeated the USF Dons in the tournament’s if-necessary game by a score of 7-6. St. Mary’s was the #5 seed in the WCC tournament.
The other two teams playing in the LA Regional will be the Cal Poly Mustangs and the Virginia Tech Hokies. They will play in Game 2 on Friday at 5 pm PT. This game will be streamed on ESPN+.
Should the Bruins advance, they will host the winner of the Morgantown Regional which will be hosted by West Virginia. The Mountaineers will play the Binghampton University Bearcats. The other two teams in the Morgantown Regional will be Wake Forest and Kentucky.
You may now return to your previously scheduled holiday festivities, just don’t forget to take a moment to remember everyone who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Go Bruins!!! Bring home the Natty!!!
