How is Frenk's statement of support for Jelly 2.0 a possible sign for firing the inept fraud?
I would love to embrace this, and many 'sources' are saying that Jelly 2.0's days are numbered...
I just don't know what to believe anymore. Transparency is not a thing at UCLA.
I also feel very sad for Malloe, even though this season was a disaster for his Defense. He is a great person just like Foster. Both deserve the best in life. ππ
..with the three double extra large that DSF will be toting away from Westwood, madame, he'll do all right. Just pull out the old calculator and see what one can earn with that principal in a 4% CD.
The other guy is in a similar "don't cry for me, Argentina" mode as well.
I think if you search "the dreaded vote of confidence" you'll see many examples of coaches in multiple sports who receive a "vote of confidence" just before being dismissed...
My theory: Frenk is biding his time. He doesn't want to buyout Jarmond's contract. Instead he'll wait until July 1, 2026 and then make Jarmond chief cook and bottle-washer and so miserable that he'll resign. If Jarmond were to leave on his own before that date, he'd have to pay UCLA $375,000. After that date, he pays nothing to leave. If Frenk fires him now, Jarmond would be radioactive with no chance to be hired and thus offset UCLA's buyout.
There are UCLA billionaires who can pay the buyout. Jelly 2.0 is a cancer who cannot be in charge of anything, not even bottle washing (but that was π€£).
He truly needs to be shown the exit yesterday. He will find plenty of ways to further ruin UCLA if given an ounce of perceived control over anything.
It could also be that Frenk hires a football GM and leaves MJ in charge of the other sports. Then, replace him when the buyout is less. Curious to see how Frenk views Croninβs sideline antics.
I think if AD Martin Guerrero can't effectively manage the all-important and highly visible football program (or the overall finances of UCLA athletics in general), then he shouldn't be employed at UCLA in any capacity anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if HC Cronin hates the current AD (and the former Blockhead administration, of course) for being forced to take the initiative and try to secure NIL funding himself and keep the basketball program competitive (after experiencing that "cheap" Euro disaster recruiting season).
Now, that's at the pro level. I don't have any data on college coaches or college ADs who were given votes of confidence and were fired shortly thereafter.
You and War also inspired me to dive into the 'dreaded vote of confidence' sphere.
Now that I am more educated on reading the back side and inbetween the lines side of Frenk's statement, I have found a flicker of light in all of this word play.
It's quite the game of checkers or perhaps even chess that all these execs play...
Not sure who invented this 'dreaded' thing, but I will go with it, for my own well-being π€£
Sorry to pounce like this, Joe, but I marvel at your perceptiveness and being able to parse stuff like this. Boss Fella Frenk sounds like my kinda guy!
Sorta seems like the sound that French royalty would have heard when the catch is tripped and there's that hissing of the blade as it descends.
"Oh hear', she thought dolefully, "I shan't be able to luxuriate in my beautiful chapeau collection ever again!"
Skipper Skipper embraced DRE by another name, but I like the energy and leadership he presents. The season is lost, but can he lay the groundwork for the future? Stop the hemorrhaging and restore UCLA's name.
As with most coaches, Malloe looked good when he had good playersβ¦and he looked bad when he was handed a group with no playmakers. A more experienced coach might have been able to squeeze a bit more from this group, but with the offense unable to run the ball, extend drives or score points, they were bound to be exposed. Although the defensive players liked him, this was different than players endorsing DeShaun two years ago; there simply arenβt any players who are worth appeasing to save the coach.
Also, while I understand thereβs a lot of boilerplate silliness regarding statements about Jarmond, I simply canβt believe he will have a role in selecting the new coach - and also the requisite football GM, absolutely necessary for all D1 teams. You can say he only had one chance to select a head coach, and the circumstances were odd and tryingβ¦but the fact that he missed so spectacularly canβt be minimized or ignored.
If Frenk is actually in charge of the HC (and AD) search efforts, maybe he is letting the current AD conduct his own HC search that may or may not actually make any sense or be useful. Then once a HC is finally selected and hired, Frenk could fire the AD in response to the Bruins' terrible season that they're having this year (some blowout losses will certainly help). I noticed they're not going to be filling the DC vacancy with anybody, so the current coaching staff may not be around next season. Under the past regime of Blockhead, I bet AD Martin Guerrero would simply hire Tim Skipper to be the new HC (and he would also be on the MB HC Hot Board!) because that's the easiest course of action for the AD, especially if the Bruins were to somehow win a couple of games this season. I'm hoping that somewhere underneath all of the rubble is a UCLA football program waiting to be rescued and revived...
The chancellor's incremental approach to rebuild UCLA football is on full display. Gone is the head coach. The coordinator now follows, albeit voluntarily as reported. Another individual or two may leave too. Then, whenever the new head coach is named, Jarmond's days shall be numbered. We don't miss this guy at all. I said it before. How he decided on DSF, a heralded former player but a complete coaching novice still puzzles me to this day. If Jarmond is truly in charge of the search, not merely in name only as I suspected, then he owes UCLA a big favor in picking a real gem.
makes no sense. because it's not up to Jarmond (or UCLA). And if whoever allegedly gave that ultimatum wanted Meyer so bad, he would go get him himself.
Joe,
I am confused...

Yes my thousand here and then, are a mere penny (or less) to their wealth.

I worry about Jelly 2.0 being involved in any sport.
He could do damage if he exerts any control over any process.
As for Cronin, Jelly 2.0 is likely afraid of him π€£
But I would love to see Cronin taking his sideline antics to Jelly 2.0's office and raising Hell.

Historically, when an executive gives someone a statement of support or a vote of confidence, it doesn't bode well for them keeping their job.
Frequently, sports coaches and executives are fired after their boss give them that kind of public statement.
Here's an article that discusses coaches who got a vote of confidence and were fired.

..and Madame DeFarge knits on..
You are by far better versed to read between the lines than me.
..been there, done that, got shown the door after there were heartwarming assurances as to my future.
I did not like the guy and had a better gig bubbling on the back burner. Let's just say, I got a three-day weekend out of the deal!
Ahhh, the old office politics from the phony guy in charge π€£
War, you need to write a memoire as a humanitarian, humorous narrative to save all of us Bruins!
we may not have a good football team, but we have the smartest football fans in the country! Amazing reference War Planner!
..ahhhhh, garsh you folks!! I don't deserve it!

The guy was paid $1mil a year for his defensive scheme shit show. Awful. βSo long, Chiefβ.

Yes we have gone from DRE to Hard and Fast. Where is Wooden when we need him π

Go Bruins.

Jelly 2.0 is not capable of picking a gem.
I saw a YouTuber (Coach JB) say Jarmond has been given an ultimatum. Get Urban Meyer or he's fired.
makes no sense. because it's not up to Jarmond (or UCLA). And if whoever allegedly gave that ultimatum wanted Meyer so bad, he would go get him himself.
