How to Watch #7 Southern Cal at #16 UCLA: Game Time, TV Schedule, Radio and More
The Bruins need a win over their crosstown rival to have a chance to play in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
Tomorrow night, the #16 UCLA Bruins will host the Southern Cal Trojans at the Rose Bowl at 5:00 pm PT. After losing last weekend to Arizona, the Bruins must must win this game in order to keep their Pac-12 Championship Game hopes alive.
The Bruins are now 8-2 on the season and are looking for their ninth win of the season for the first time since going 10-3 in 2014 under Jim Mora.
Keys to the Game
Let’s look at the keys to this week’s game.
1. Score Early and Often
It sounds simple enough and, for most of the season, it was. The Bruin offense rolled over most of their opponents by scoring early and often, making it hard for opponents to catch up.
Then, the Arizona debacle happened. The offense stalled early and for much of the game as the offense was held under 30 points for the first time all season.
In order for UCLA to win this game, they will need to get into the end zone at least six times, and maybe more.
2. Stop Caleb Williams
The Bruin defense made Jayden de Laura look like a Heisman candidate last week. This week, they face a real Heisman candidate, albeit a dark horse one, in Caleb Williams. He has thrown for more than 3000 yards and 31 touchdowns and he has a trio of top receivers to pick from. The Bruin defense needs to look like the one that stopped Washington’s Michael Penix more than the one fans saw last week.
3. Intangibles
This is a rivalry game, but while the Bruins seem to understand that, the word is that the Southern Cal is trying to treat this game like a regular game. It’s more than that. The emotions run high. Games turn on emotions, mistakes, and special teams. Will either team make a mistake that turns the tide for the other side? Will it occur on special teams? Watch out for the unpredictable.
