This afternoon, the UCLA Bruins will look to bounce back from Thursday night’s loss to Oregon when they visit the Oregon State Beavers in Corvallis, Oregon.
The hapless Beavers come into today’s game having lost thirteen straight games. Oregon State came close to breaking that streak on Thursday night when they went to double overtime against Southern Cal before finally falling 94-91.
How bad has the losing streak been for Wayne Tinkle’s crew?
Well, they have yet to win in 2022. Their last win, and only Pac-12 win of the season, came against Utah on December 30, 2021. While the Beavers remain winless on the road, all three of their wins this season have happened at home. Their other two wins came against Portland State and Nicholls.
That said, they have definitely played better at home, even in their losses. They lost to Princeton narrowly 81-80. They came within two points of Oregon, falling 78-76, which is closer than UCLA played the Ducks in either of their losses to Oregon. The Beavers almost beat UC Berkeley, but lost 63-61 and, of course, there was Thursday’s double overtime game against Southern Cal.
Outlook
Despite the venue change from Pauley Pavilion to Gill Coliseum, the outlook for today’s game remains basically the same as the earlier meeting between these teams.
On paper, the Bruins should blow the Beavers out again.
The Bruins showed their depth last week blowing out Washington State, Washington and Arizona State. But, even with that depth, they couldn’t get past Oregon on Thursday night.
So, now, UCLA needs to prove they can overcome adversity on the road without Johnny Juzang. The last time the Bruins lost the first game of a road trip came in Arizona and they couldn’t manage to get past the Sun Devils in the second game of that trip.
UCLA fell into third place in the conference standings after losing to Oregon and Southern Cal’s win over the Beavers. If the Bruins don’t win today’s game, they could find themselves in fourth place if the Ducks beat the Trojans.
That makes today’s game a must-win for UCLA. It should be an easy win, but it doesn’t always work out that way, especially on the road.

TuneIn.com now has UCLA’s games listed as “premium” content. So, rather than using TuneIn, you can just listen through the official website like we have done with the small sports for a long time in order to listen to Josh Lewin and Tracy Murray call today’s game. While the CBS crew of Spero Dedes and Jim Spanarkel is very good, if you prefer Lewin and Murray, just be sure to right-click on it so that you can open up another tab and have it going while you chat in the comments below. So glad ucla destroyed oregon state. They’ve won 3 games but losing to them would be a bad loss. At least ucla really only has the one bad loss to asu which went to triple overtime. I do think the development of Clark during this time of injuries could prove the difference in ucla making another magical march run. If he’s making plays in march ucla has a chance. They should definitely rest players down the stretch as the remaining games won’t break the season
Juzang out this afternoon. He's day to day

OMG so finally we get to the game, and they're in a time-out LOL
Looks like we're making an effort to bring the ball inside this game. Good to see Singleton hit his first 3!
And jules
Riley looking more strong underneath… maybe he’s back to full health almost which is a must
Kyman tyger and singleton playing defense at the same time seems less than ideal
Jaime!
So far our defense is doing a good job
Yay, Myles!
Jaime the sparkplug is sparking!
Strange, I don't find the announcers completely annoying.
So nice to just watch a game with objectivity and no nonsense
Yeah, their chatter doesn't overtake the game, nor are they biased in anyway. Just calling it as it happens. Why can't more do that/
Now can we play two halves?
Wow!
Missed some bunnies but need defense more this half
Grrr!
We've missed some gimmes this half
Free throws looking good today
You jinxed them LOLOL
Glad to see Bernard break out of his shooting slump. Great game!
Clark special
Shooting 59% from the 3. That'll do it if you shoot enough. It's good to see so many players step up with Juzang out.
I legit feel bad for Oregon St at this point.
I assume we won’t see Tyger or Jaime for the rest of the day
Need to run the reg season table … capped by Cronin finally beating Enfield before he leaves to Maryland
We've seen so many games where nothing would drop for us. This is refreshing!
Nwuba+Riley is an interesting lineup.
Want more of that bc means it’s garbage time
Riley gettin his groove back

Has Nwuba ever hit 2 free throws??? Turning point…
Jake feeling it … confidence building
So long, Mighty Bruins, Enjoy your weekend!
What's it going to take for Cronin to put in Logan?
