How To Watch, Game Preview and Game Thread: UCLA Bruins vs. Pepperdine Waves
The Bruins will look to bounce back after losing to SDSU on Wednesday night.
Well, Wednesday night’s game was not the way the Bruins wanted to start the season. Hopefully, it serves as a wake up call to the players and they learn that that have to play hard for forty minutes each game.
The good news is that today, the Bruins have an easier game against the Pepperdine Waves.
The Waves won their game on Wednesday against UC Irvine, 86-72.
Junior forward Kessler Edwards led the Waves with 20 points against the Anteaters. Pepperdine’s guards, senior Colbey Ross and redshirt junior Jade Smith, each added 13 points while grad transfer Kene Chukwuka added 10.
On an interesting note, the other Wave who finished in double figures Wednesday has a name familiar to Bruin fans. Sophomore Jan Zidek, the son of former Bruin George Zidek, put up 12 for the Waves.
Speaking of familiar names, sophomore guard Andre Ball is a cousin of former Bruin Lonzo Ball. And, of course, Pepperdine head coach Lorenzo Romar was an assistant coach at UCLA under Jim Harrick, but what you may not know is that both Romar and UCLA head coach Mick Cronin went to Cincinnati. Romar graduated five years ahead of Cronin. So, they weren’t teammates.
