How to Watch Arizona at UCLA: Game Time, TV Schedule, Radio and More
The Wildcats visit the Bruins at the Rose Bowl tonight in a nationally televised contest in prime time.
Over the past 20 years or so, UCLA has a terrible record in nationally televised prime time games. So, Bruin fans should be a little concerned about tonight’s game.
Another reason to be concerned is the fact that Grant Gunnell torched the Bruin defense for 352 yards last year in his very first collegiate start. The fact that the UCLA defense seems to have improved should help the Bruins’ chances tonight.
But, will it be enough?
Let’s look at this week’s Keys to the Game.
Keys to the Game
In honor of Arizona offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone who has famously bragged that he calls the same five plays over and over in a different order, I’m sticking with the same three keys in a different order, of course, that I’ve discussed this season mostly because they are the three most important elements to a Bruin victory.
1. Turnovers
Against Colorado and Oregon, UCLA turned the ball over four times and lost. Against UC Berkeley, they turned it over less and the Golden Bears turned it over more and the Bruins won. The fact that UCLA didn’t give the ball away was a big deal as it allowed the Bruin offense to drive down the field and score a lot. If UCLA takes it away as much if not more than the Wildcats, the Bruins should win.
2. Defense.
The Bruin defense has shown a lot of improvement this season. They managed to effectively employ a pass rush which was non-existent last season. After being torched last year by Gunnell, look for the Bruins to try to get a lot of pressure on Gunnell to force him into a lot of short passes including the still famous Mazzone Bubble Screen. That will require the secondary to step up and make a lot of plays. If the Bruin DBs can anticipate the short passes, they may be able to pick off a few passes and that will go a long way to a Bruin victory.
3. UCLA QB Play.
The same question from last week exists. Will DTR be able to play? We know he doesn’t have COVID, but is he still unable to play today? Will Chase Griffin start again? Griffin played as well if not better than DTR could have last week. We probably won’t know until close to game time when Twitter blows up telling us who is at quarterback in pregame warmups. Regardless of whether it’s DTR or Griffin, UCLA’s quarterback needs to avoid handing the ball to Arizona deep in Bruin territory.

There should be 4th and 5th keys for the Bruins and both of those also are turnovers.
