No-No! Garcia Throws Second Career No-Hitter for Bruins
Yesterday, Rachel Garcia threw another no-hitter as the Bruins crushed Oregon State, 7-0. Today, UCLA will face the Beavers again. First pitch is set for 11 am and, while the game won’t be televised, it will be livestreamed.
Last Time Out
Rachel Garcia was in the zone yesterday afternoon when she threw the second no-hitter of her UCLA career. She struck out twelve while walking just three and hitting one batter.
Meanwhile, the Bruins got on the scoreboard in the second inning when Kinsley Washington hit an RBI single which scored Maya Brady to give UCLA the lead.
Aaliyah Jordan doubled the Bruins’ lead when she homered to start the third inning.
It remained 2-0 until the UCLA offense broke out in the sixth. Anna Vines began the big rally with a single. Washington then hit an infield single to give the Bruins runners on first and second with one out. Julie Rodriguez pinch hit for Kelli Godin and hit an RBI single to center which scored Vines and moved Washington to third. Godin then came back into the game and ran for Rodriguez. Jordan drew a walk to load the bases and Briana Perez double to right-center, scoring both Washington and Godin and giving UCLA a 5-0 lead. Then, Rachel Garcia helped her own cause with a two-RBI single which scored Jordan and Perez.
The Beavers weren’t able to do anything with a one-out walk against Garcia in the seventh and UCLA won by a final score of 7-0.
Today, the teams meet again at 11 am. Look for another easy Bruin win.
