Game Preview and How to Watch: San Diego Toreros at UCLA Bruins
After opening Pac-12 play earlier than ever on Sunday, the Bruins return to non-conference action tonight against the University of San Diego.
After opening conference play against UC Berkeley on Sunday, the UCLA Bruins return to non-conference action tonight when they host the San Diego Toreros at Pauley Pavilion at 6 pm PT.
Tonight’s game will be the first of the season for the Toreros, who had to pause all activities due to a positive COVID-19 test within the program.
The Toreros return two starters from last year’s squad which was 9-23 overall and just 2-14 in West Coast Conference play. Redshirt junior guard Joey Calcaterra is the top scorer returning from last season. He averaged 11.3 points per game last year.
Redshirt sophomore guard Marion Humphrey, who led the team in assists per game with 2.5, also returns but is not expected to start tonight. In his place, San Diego coach Sam Scholl will start redshirt junior Frankie Hughes, who averaged 8.9 points per game last season.
San Diego also returns senior forward Yauhen Massalski. Last season, Massalski was limited to just 20 games due to injury, but he was still the Toreros’ leader in rebounds with 7.0 per game and blocks with 1.5 per game.
The remaining expected starters for San Diego are also upperclassmen. Redshirt junior guard Finn Sullivan averaged 7.6 points per game last season while redshirt senior forward Josh Parrish averaged 7.5 points per game.
Tonight’s game should not prove much of a challenge for the Bruins. In fact, like the Seattle game last week, it should be over by halftime.

Don't belittle Seattle's performance last week.
They stayed in the game much longer than UC Berkeley.
