UCLA qb recruits are doing amazingly well at Tennessee and Oregon. Why not for UCLA? The Bruins need something that has been missing for the past several years. . .
Yes, what we are missing is great leaders: great people with strong character who know how to lead with a clear mission and vision, and possess the skills and intangibles to create success.
The terrible mess we are in lies squarely in the vacancy of great leadership. It has been our achilles heal for decades.
At times we had a bandaid aka Mora etc, but the bandaid quickly wore off and we were exposed again. As for Blockhead, he only cared about donor parties.
Foster loves UCLA but he is not a great leader and doesn't have the skills to be a head coach, but he is well intentioned with his heart.
I really believed that Foster could develop quickly and become a great coach but I was wrong. You can tell from his pressors that he simply doesn't know what to do.
Frenk likely won't do anything to fix this. He is a short timer, and you can't manufacturer love for a school. Perhaps he will shock me, but I doubt it.
Seems everybody secured their job for the big bucks, whether or not they're actually qualified and/or truly dedicated to program's success. The transitioning of leadership from a Blockhead to a potential Frenkenstein sure doesn't inspire a lot of hope. With an inept AD, an empty, tarp-covered home field, and an inexperienced HC, I don't think UCLA can attract and field a talented roster capable of competing in the Big-10 anytime soon (if ever) under the existing conditions.
Someone not ready for prime time is in charge. Eye test or not, the misery and mediocrity will continue. Our pessimism will persist. Because Jarmond and indirectly the university administration compelled us to embark on this journey of g;loom, this season of disenchantment, This is my own relief recipe. On game day or night, conduct a quick glance on YouTube for the score. We can enjoy the rest of the day or our dinner better, win or lose.
Have to laugh…my wife and I have wanted to go to a game at Allegiant Stadium, and when the schedule came out she suggested we go to the UCLA game…and my immediate reaction was “no way…if they do one of their awful face plants against a inferior team…it’s a long miserable drive back home through the desert”…
I’m not right that often, but unfortunately nailed this one…we’ll probably go to another UNLV game at Allegiant sometime down the road, must be cheaper than the Raiders or the Las Vegas Bowl.
Great analysis as always D! It’s all starts with the line (both offense and defense). Before we throw more money on a big QB, maybe save some cash and put it into linemen. On the comment about not recognizing the capability of the O-line, maybe it’s because they’re facing a weak D line in practice, so the issue doesn’t show up…

All around a very sad state of affairs.

Stated so perfectly, my friend 💙💛
