Nice write up as always Dimitri. I think you’re grading on a curve with that numerical value for offense though (2.3 or 3.7)? Either way I’ll take it.

On offense I thought the same on that pick six. That was an access throw on an RPO that Maryland had seen three or four times already. There was a front side RPO that Nico could have read as well, but if I was Jerry I probably would have tagged a slant on that or had a zone read that close to the goal line. I thought the game plan was unusually conservative, and I hope that was to save some mustard for this week. I’d like to see more split zone concepts that can get the TE bluffing as a QB escort or as a flat read on a TE RPO to slow down their front 7 and keep the chains manageable.

On defense, boy am I glad our secondary looks as good as it does right now. Iowa is the only team that’s played Indiana relatively close. A lot of that had to do with them playing cover 0, 1, and 5, which really helps with taking away RPO concepts as well as generating pressure. Which we’re going to need a lot of. That also means we’re going to need to look really solid on the back end, but as of now it looks like our secondary is up to the challenge.

Whatever tricks we have in our bag, now’s the time to deploy them. I’m not sure whether we have a chance against Indiana, but I know we don’t have a sliver of a chance against Ohio State. Getting a victory against one of these teams would be a much-needed miracle.

Best thing we can do is keep the ball out of the hands of their offense and limit their time of possession. Hopefully the defense can play as well on Saturday and the offense can get back on track. We had identical results against our only common opponent so their is hope.

o-line. keeps the defense off the field and lets the crazy legs RBs get through the hole and the fancy pants QB to throw a pass instead of run for his life...

Appreciate your "fair review" but couldn't you bump it up to an overall B- because they wore the 1966-era Beban/Mel Far/Dallas Grider/RB throwback unis?

C'mon, be a pal!

(Sounds like me begging for my freshman calculus grade.)

Maybe in memory of Bobby Stiles?

In memory of? Hope Bob continues to walk the planet, but maybe still in a daze from hitting Bob Apisa head-on at the goal line!

How about those cool quasi-Riddell black shoes?
