#EpicFail: Southern Cal Tries to Capitalize on Some Movie Hype...
And the responses are hilarious!

Regardless of how any UCLA football season may or may not be going, one of the usual highlights occurs at halftime of the home game before the Bruins take on crosstown rival Southern Cal. That’s because the UCLA Marching Band usually re-creates the Battle of Troy.
Of course, any self-respecting Bruin fan knows how that battle went. After a prolonged war, the Greeks decided to offer the Trojans a giant horse as a gift, and the Trojans just welcomed it into their city. When night fell and the Trojans were asleep, the Greeks came out from the wooden horse and destroyed the city.
In the aftermath of that battle, Odysseus went on a long, ten-year journey back home to Greece and the story of that journey was told by Homer in The Odyssey.
Well, Christopher Nolan’s latest film is an adaptation of Odysseus’ tale and it is expected to be one of this summer’s biggest movies. How big is the hype?
Apparently, it’s big enough that the Southern Cal athletic department decided to try to capitalize on today’s release of the film to promote their college football season. Today, they posted to X: “Our Odyssey begins Aug. 29.” That’s when the Trojans face, ironically, the San Jose State Spartans.
While SJSU’s Spartans might not stand much of a chance against Southern Cal, it didn’t keep users on X.com from skewering the Trojans.
Of course, here at The Mighty Bruin, we are committed to being fair and balanced. So, we also have a response from the Trojans, courtesy of former Ohio State QB Cardale Jones:
For one of the best laughs you will have today, be sure to check out the Trojans’ post on X just so you can read all of the replies. Amazingly enough, Southern Cal still has not deleted the post.
As a side note, the Bruin resurgence under new head coach Bob Chesney begins soon!
Go Bruins!!!
