Not sure Chip owes ys the truth here. It’s more important to protect and develop Dante Moore, IMHO.

If he had said something to the effect that he was benched due to poor play, then he’d be airing the dirty laundry out on the media. That kinda stuff is maintained within the staff and the players. Question is, who will start next week? How does it work out if Moore starts and plays poorly? If Garber plays, and does a solid job and UCLA wins again, where does it go from there? Many questions to be answered in the next few weeks.

It's largely been the lack of effective and decisive coaching that has caused the talented Moore to struggle so much. Just seems like he's continuing to make the same mistakes and not learning fast enough in order to improve. Last thing you want to see is for him to start having second thoughts about his future at UCLA and wanting to transfer out. Anyway, the mishandling of the QB situation is just one symptom of an overall problem with the current head coach. The mediocre coaching record says it all: a 2-3 overall career bowl record, a pathetic 32-31 record after 6 long, painful years at UCLA (0-1 bowl record so far), with more lackluster results expected (through 2027, unfortunately). Chip Alford needs to be replaced!

I agree 💯Chip inherited a ton of talent in Oregon and that gift enabled him to win. He has not shown an ability or desire to be a much needed 'living room' recruiter. He has not recruited an offensive line to protect Dante. And Chip has not embraced Dante's unique skills and talents in a way that will help Dante flourish.

Chip would be long gone at programs such as suc, Michigan, Ohio State, etc. My only hope as War Planner pointed out is that Jarmond is actively searching for the right coach under the radar while the Chip

buyout decreases.

I think it's more to support Dante moore's young mental health than anything else. To give him time to heal both mentally and physically without destroying his psyche when promoting Garbers to the starter position. We all know Dante Moore would likely transfer to another program if Garbers was annointed the position on a longer basis than a single game. By being vague, he keeps Colorado off guard and keeps both Garbers and Moore in the mix.

How do you not start Garbers after a solid, mistake-free performance? Boy, it must be 2023 when we're concerned about hurting a freshman's feelings about not starting!

It's not about feelings. Times have changed. Players are no longer cattle trapped by their circumstances. Players at smaller programs can move up to a better program. Players stuck down on a depth chart can go somewhere else to play.

Yeah, I always felt bad for all that cattle on full rides for a college education.

For some it was about the education. But the school made so much money off these kids. It's what Ed o'bannon and others fought for. The right to control their rights.

Some of that money may have paid for the education that other kids couldn't afford. Our generations are speaking!

Btw, I don't have an issue with NIL (though greatly overvalued), but a different issue.
