Big Ten Announces Future Conference Football Match-Ups (Again)

Expansion caused the Big Ten to almost completely re-write the conference football schedules.

Back in June, the Big Ten announced the 2024 & 2025 conference football opponents. So, naturally, you knew that when realignment picked up again that the Big Ten would expand again in order to force the schedule makers back to the drawing board.

Yesterday, almost four months after they originally announced the five seasons’ worth of conference football opponents. It’s enough to almost make you think that they had 2026, 2027, and 2028 drawn up back in June, but they just hadn’t announced those matchups yet.

Regardless, take whatever you thought you knew and toss it out the window, and if you bookmarked hotels in Bloomington, Indiana; Ann Arbor, Michigan; or Iowa City, Iowa, you may want to forget about those possible road trips for the time being.

That said, keep your Piscataway, New Jersey hotels bookmarked because Rutgers is the only road game still on the conference slate for next season.

You’ll now want to set some bookmarks for State College, Pennsylvania; Lincoln, Nebraska; and…yeah, well, that’s it because the Bruins will now be visiting Penn State, Nebraska and current Pac-12 member Washington along with Rutgers in UCLA’s first year in the superconference.

Minnesota and Southern Cal will still be visiting the Rose Bowl next season. Additionally, the Bruins will host Iowa, Indiana and Oregon next year.

Rather than sit here and try to make rhyme or reason from four more years of conference opponents, I’m just going to share the images published by the Big Ten.

Now, there’s still one curious note. The list of future football schedules on the official website still lists a home-and-home series in 2029 and 2030 between the Bruins and the Wisconsin Badgers.
