It’s on to Week Two today at the Rose Bowl when the UCLA Bruins host the Alabama State Hornets. Of course, the sad part about today will be that UCLA will exit the short list of schools which have never played an FCS opponent. That’s on you, Michigan!
The flipside, of course, is that today’s halftime show should be incredible. I’m not sure if Pac-12 Networks will have it or not, but I sure hope they do.
Game Time Weather Forecast
Here’s the good news: Today’s game will much cooler than last week. Then, again, last week was so hot, I don’t think we’ll see a game quite that hot for maybe another 22 years. That was the timespan between the 2000 Michigan game and last week’s Bowling Green game.
Expect it to be a more reasonable 85° and cloudy at kickoff with a 15% chance of rain. Not quite a Chamber of Commerce day in Pasadena again this week, but that’s why today’s game is also on Pac-12 Networks. The temperature will be pretty steady for the entire game, dropping to just 84° at halftime and staying there for the entire second half.

Listen to the Game With TMB!
TuneIn.com now has UCLA’s football games listed as “premium” content. So, rather than using TuneIn, you can just listen through the official website like we have done with the small sports for a long time in order to listen to Josh Lewin and Matt Stevens call today’s game instead of UC Berkeley grad Roxy Bernstein and Lincoln Kennedy. So, it’s probably worth it to turn the sound off. If you do prefer UCLA’s radio team, be sure to right-click on it so that you can open up another tab and have it going while you chat in the comments below. Listen to today’s game online.

Yeah, as I'm watching I'm thinking under because time of possession may be more even, with ASU getting lots of first downs, Bruins won't have time to get over 60.
Texas had Mama where they wanted them but blew it at end. Still, was not at all impressed with Bama barely hanging on to a team with backup QB for most of game.
Yup...
Weather? Victim of Kay?

A!!!
UCLA Fight! Fight! Fight!!
On TV, looks like about 10 people in the Rose Bowl
That last shot was an improvement, but that first one from the booth. Yikes!
See if we hit a new low today
The only ones he can!
DL looking good against run so far.
But sadly not so much against the pass
Which they were quick to exploit.
Like the LB blitz on that last play.
ASU QB looks better than Bowling Green QB.
The guy has an arm for sure
Yes he does, ArmyBruin. Hopefully the D has noticed, too and we don't take Al State too lightly.
Three stacked receivers. Thinking this a weak area for the Bruins?
Bam St. successfully moving the ball downfield against our boys so far...
True. And the QB spin on the last play. The guy can move and throw.
And he hasn't made any bad decisions so far; he's thrown it out of bounds and avoided hurting his team. I like him :-)
3 rushes for 2 yds, 5 passes for 56 yds... yup!
I like our uptempo offense
Great spin move by Kaz on that pass!
I wonder why Charbonnet hasn't touched the ball yet... nice run by Deacon, though.
*Keagan that is LOL
Go Bruins!
Alabama State’s band just played Neck I am in heaven.
I'm jelly!!!
Slippery dude, but shoulda, shoulda.
I like that we have people in the backfield almost every play.
Indeed, BB.
Chaos
Great hit on QB for the fumble, but refs got the forward lateral call correct.
Yep.
DTR loves him some TEs!!
Pass blocking has been really good. May be more about their line than ours, but I’ll take it for now.
Two for two! Go Bruins!
60 points, over or under?
I’m guessing we go to the second string early, so I say under. But what I’m r3ally interested in is can the Defense shut them out.
I would also love a shut out too!
Yeah, as I'm watching I'm thinking under because time of possession may be more even, with ASU getting lots of first downs, Bruins won't have time to get over 60.
Marshall up on Notre Dame late
they're toast-- no coming back for ND :-)
WSU hanging with #19 Wisconsin too
Nice!!
Texas A&M tied with Appalachian State, also towards the end of the third.
I saw that!
Texas had Mama where they wanted them but blew it at end. Still, was not at all impressed with Bama barely hanging on to a team with backup QB for most of game.
App up by a TD now
Sweet!!
Game 14 all in middle of 4th, App St in red zone :-)
17-14, App St., 8 to go in game
ND scored and going for 2 with 14 seconds left
Not enough time, IMHO.
LOLOL 2 pt conversion failed!!!
Got sacked
Notre Dame overrated.
Ugh 3 and out
How are we letting them convert on 3rd and long almost every time?
Feels like a repeat of last year, terrible pass Defense
I am totally having PTSD. Memories of the marshmallow defense.
So much for the shut out...
Once again Crawley shows he has an arm
If this is a "test" for our defense, it doesn't look very promising.
Maybe they ought to watch the Marshall defense film.
Yes and no. We've had a tendency to "play to the level of the competition" It's the first quarter of the second game. We'll come out of this game 2-0.
Finally some DTR magic with the crazy dish pass!
Worked out, but I don’t like that flip
DTR got dinged.
Garbers in
Right move... no need for DTR to beat this team. Garbers should be able to handle it.
I was hoping to see Garbers today. Hate that DTR might be hurt though.
Is Charbonet just getting a rest today? I get the idea to not overwork him, but would think he’d get a few touches
It never makes sense to just sit a back, so it must be health- or discipline-related.
Will be interesting to see if he come in for the second half. Could be a discipline sit for a half?
If the announcers were even remotely decent (they're not), they would already have asked and found an answer to that question...
There was brief commentary early in the game. Said there was no issue. Chip was trying out different players. Make of that what you will...
Missed that-- thx!
Yeah I heard what they said, but feels like there’s sometimes more. Coaches like to keep some things quiet, which is fine.
Jones looking really good though
Anyone seen Zack Charbonnet…?
Saw him on the sideline earlier
He's never seemed the guy to talk smack or have attitude. My guess is it's physical
Who needs him when we've got Garbers pounding the line. Bell cow!
When starting QB dinged up, you really don't want your backup being a "bell cow" LOL
Turrble throw by Garbers on that last one.
TD Garbers!
The defense needs to stop this drive
Very soft defense.
The sofa cushion defense
More cushions than Bed Bath and Beyond
You're killing me!
Finally a sack!
That was fun, you actually heard a crowd, and then a sack. It's almost like football.
C'mon, go for it!
That was disappointing...
Special teams need the work. OL needs to move them out.
WSU leading Wisconsin 17-14 in the 4th. Appalachia leading A&M 17-14 as well in the 4th.
24 points in 27 plays. That ratio is like the old Oregon Kelly teams.
Good to see the Defense getting some pressure without needing to blitz
We ran into their punter -_-
yay special teams....
K-rap!
A great 2 minute drill!
Nice drive
Really dislike Garber rushing for the TD. It's just Alabama St, and our RBs fully capable. Why chance getting hurt??
Nice two minute drive by Garbers
