#9 UCLA Women's Hoops Hosts Utah
The Bruins return home after beating Oregon in the final minute.
This afternoon, the UCLA women’s basketball team hosts the Utah Utes at Pauley Pavilion at 1 pm PT.
Last Time Out
While Friday’s game against Colorado was postponed, the Bruins won their last game when they traveled to Eugene to play the Oregon Ducks.
While UCLA held on to beat the Ducks, they almost didn’t.
With 4:53 to go in the game, the Bruins led by 11, 71-60, but over the next three and a half minutes, Oregon came all the way back to tie the game at 71 by scoring 11 consecutive points.
Michaela Onyenwere took a three-pointer with 56 seconds, but missed. Somehow, she managed to grab the rebound and put it up and in to put the Bruins back in front with 51 seconds left.
Despite several possessions in those 51 seconds, Oregon was not able to score and the Bruins escaped Eugene with a win over the Ducks.
Onyenwere recorded her third double-double of the season with 33 points and 10 rebounds.
Utah Utes
Utah is currently in ninth place in the conference standings. So far this season, the Utes have lost conference games to Oregon, Colorado, Arizona State, Arizona, Washington State and Southern Cal. Their only conference wins have come against Oregon State and Washington, both of which are two of the three teams below the Utes in the conference standings.
So, the outcome of today’s game shouldn’t be in much doubt.
